Transneft Urals has completed technical upgrading of an automation system at the Yurgamysh line operation dispatcher station (LODS) in Kurgan Region. The system provides process control of the pump station of the Ust-Balyk – Kurgan – Ufa – Almetievsk oil trunk pipeline (UBKUA OTP).
The works were performed as part of the technical upgrading, revamping, and overhaul programme for 2020. The previous equipment is outdated and has failed to fully meet regulatory documents and requirements for the information transfer process.
During the technical upgrading, the central controller of the microprocessor automation system, which ensures the collection, processing and transmission of information to related systems, operation of the station-level and unit protection of the station, control of the main power pumping equipment of the station and the units of auxiliary systems, was replaced in the pump house. The replacement of equipment will allow to further expand the capabilities of the automation for information transmission.
In addition, power layouts of the automation systems with power redundancy were upgraded. These layouts provide control over the technological processes of the pumping stations of the UBKUA and the Tuimazy – Omsk – Novosibirsk-2 (TON-2) oil trunk pipelines, a number of tank farms, as well as the oil and petroleum products’ lease automatic custody transfer unit of the TON-2 oil pipeline. The conducted works allowed to increase the reliability of the power supply of automation cabinets, and partial replacement of the process equipment of the pump house will ensure the stable operation of the station-level protection.
The technical upgrading carried out will ensure uninterrupted operation of the automation system and increase the safe operation of the operating facility as a whole.
