Transneft Urals Conducts Firefighting and Tactical Drill at Travniki LODS

Date of publication: 07 September 2020

Transneft Urals has conducted a firefighting and tactical drill at the Travniki line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of the Chelyabinsk Oil Pipeline Directorate (OPD).

The goal was to practice actions to alert business units of the Chelyabinsk OPD and authorities in case of a fire at pipeline transportation facilities, gather fire brigades and extinguish a simulated fire using mobile fire extinguishing equipment in real time.

According to the drill scenario, the simulated fire occurred in the pump room of the Nizhnevartovsk – Kurgan – Kuybyshev oil trunk pipeline. After receiving a signal about the occurrence of a "fire", the volunteer fire brigade of the Travniki LODS began to extinguish the fire, at the same time the call went to the EMERCOM units and the fire station in Chelyabinsk, whose brigades arrived to the place of the simulated incident at the scheduled time. The scenario was complicated by an additional input, in accordance with which water-foam extinguishing pump stations failed. To contain the fire, the drill’s participants used mobile fire extinguishing equipment, which were installed on fire water and foam solution tanks.

The supervisory commission noted that thanks to the well-coordinated actions of the fire brigades, the "fire source" was promptly eliminated, preventing the spread of the fire to other operating facilities of the station.

More than 30 people took part in the drill, 6 units of firefighting and rescue equipment were used.

During the drill, all requirements to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection were met, the personnel used the necessary personal protective equipment and kept the social distance.
