Transneft Urals has completed technical upgrading of the automated process control system (APCS) at Nurlino line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of Cherkassy Oil Pipeline Directorate (OPD).
The technical upgrading included replacement of the automation system with expired service life at the oil pumping station (PS) of the Nizhnevartovsk – Kurgan – Kuibyshev oil trunk pipeline (NKK OTP).
The new automation system ensures uninterrupted monitoring of standard process parameters at the PS in automated mode. The system provides the operator with a broad range of information on the technical processes and operational parameters of the PS, controls the functioning of the operating process equipment and devices and is in charge of switching process equipment to safety mode in case of emergency.
Interaction of the new APCS with the existing tank farm control automation equipment, the quality measurement unit, the supervisory control and data acquisition system at the district and the area control centres (Nurlino and Ufa, respectively), as well as with other automation systems in use at the LODS, was enabled. The existing fire extinguishing automation system at the pump house of the NKK OTP was also adjusted. During the installation of the new APCS, an overhead cable tray, seven chambers for instrumentation and meters and an enclosure for marshalling panels were mounted, 88 kilometres of cable were laid.
The new APCS was put into operation as part of the technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme implemented by Transneft Urals at its facilities in 2018.
