Transneft Urals has reconstructed the PIG trap of the phase I Tuimazy – Omsk – Novosibirsk-1 (TON-1) oil trunk pipeline at Cherkassy line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of Cherkassy Oil Pipeline Directorate.

The work has been carried out as part of the Company's technical upgrading and revamping (TUR) programme for 2018. The purpose of the reconstruction of the PIG trap is to increase the reliability of the Cherkassy LODS pipelines as well as to ensure compliance of the facility with the requirements of Transneft's current regulatory documents. The reconstruction of the PIG trap did not require suspension of oil pumping through the Cherkassy – Nurlino section of the TON-1 oil pipeline.

During the reconstruction, a new PIG trap was built, which had piping manifold and fittings, while the previously used PIG trap was dismantled. Instrumentation, level gauges and additional automatic switches were installed, telemetry devices connected, teledata transmission from the supervisory control system and the district control centre using the existing communication lines ensured, cable lines laid, and lightning protection installed. Upon completion of the works, land improvement was carried out on the site.

The reconstructed PIG trap meets all the requirements of applicable regulatory documents. The reliability of Cherkassy LODS pipelines has also been increased.
