Date of publication: 07 August 2018 Print

Under the approved operational capacities inspection programme, from January to July 2018 Transneft Urals inspected 598.3 km of trunk pipelines.

Most of the work – 219.7 km – was done at the Ufa – West petroleum products trunk pipelines (PPTP). Moreover, inline inspection was done at the Nizhnevartovsk – Kurgan – Kuibyshev, Ust-Balyk – Kurgan – Ufa – Almetievsk, Kaltasy – Ufa-2 oil trunk pipelines and the Ufa – Kambarka PPTP.

The inspection is carried out using pipeline inspection gadgets (PIGs) that are based on various physical principles (ultrasonic, magnetic and combined). This allows evaluating pipeline condition using a series of criteria (longitudinal and transverse weld defects, buckles, dents, cracks, metal losses), thus enabling to identify substandard condition of trunk pipelines.

Transneft Diascan professionals analyse the inline inspection findings and timely submit them to Transneft Urals for review and prepare the Technical Upgrading, Revamping and Overhaul Programme for the subsequent years.

Moreover, from January to July 2018 Transneft Urals inspected 21 oil and petroleum products storage tanks with the overall capacity of 270,000 m3.

Inspection of operational capacities in strict compliance with the plan is crucial for improving reliable pipeline transportation of oil and petroleum products, ensure industrial and environmental safety of operating facilities at Transneft Urals.
